The Phone Incident

Benjamin and I were upstairs in the office, Kevin had just walked out to leave to go to church. I was finishing something up on the computer, Benjamin was building some spaceships with legos and I hear this.....Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

What is that noise?

Beep, beep, beep, beep.....

I quickly walk over to the balcony and I see Rachel playing with the phone. I immediately yell...."Rachel Jeannine, No, maam, what are you doing? Put that down."

I hurried downstairs and by then, she had put the phone down, I popped her leg (she knows that the phone is off limits) and sent her to her room. She started throwing a temper tantrum in her room. In the meantime, I notice that the answering machine was blinking.

Oh, no. What is going on?

By the way, this is a new phone and my husband set it up (which is unusal) so I had no clue what all the new buttons were.

So I start pressing buttons and realize that she must have pushed the record button. I press play and I hear the following:

Breathing.....Breathing.....Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep...Rachel Jeanine, No Maam, what are you doing? Put that down....Beep, beep, beep...click, bang, wam...Pop, go to your room.....Waaaaaaaaa!

I freak and think, Oh, No! is this the outgoing message. I spent the next 5-10 minutes trying to figure out how to delete it and check the outgoing message. Thankfully it was not the outgoing message and it was just some recorded message capability on the phone.

She is definitely busy and mischevious. I love her.

Hilarious.

She's the Beepin' Breather.

And, I wonder if we were to always record how we deal with our kids if we would choose to act the same...

Deep thoughts, by Tina.

That one is free, friend.

Funny - Something I can totally see Gracie doing in 6 months. She is obsessed with the phone and the buttons on the answering machine.

Trying to break her of that one...

I vote you make that your outgoing message, less junk messages that way.

OH NO!!! You don't want something like that to be your outgoing message - some old prude who thinks they know everything about how your should raise your children - even though they don't have ANY - may call and hear that then call the child abuse people on you for popping her little leg.

Cute story though...and since it ISN'T your outgoing message, maybe you can save it and have a chuckle every now and again. ;)

Good one Debbie - oh yeah!! Thanks for the good mail. I loved it!!

isnt it funny that the little ones in our lives can push buttons and get things to work but we cant. Both our little ones can listen to the answering machine from the ph but neither of us parents can. we have to go to the box.
